The goal of the state-mandated Parenting course is to empower students to knowledgeably explore and define their personal values concerning parenting and to become knowledgeable of the responsibilities of becoming a parent. This course focuses on identifying those concepts of responsible childbearing that every young person should know. The potential parent will become aware of the need to begin caring for personal health, practicing informed decision making about personal lifestyle, forming positive ways to meet physical, psychological, and emotional needs and developing awareness of the kind of parent he or she wants to be.
