March 10, 2023 - Update to the school community

At the Andes Board of Education meeting on Thursday, March 2, the board accepted the resignation “from employment” of Dr. Robert Chakar, Jr. as superintendent of the Andes Central School District, effective at the close of business March 2, 2023.

The Board of Education also passed a resolution to approve a “Settlement Agreement between the District and the Employee identified on Confidential Schedule “A” and authorizes the President of the Board of Education to execute the Agreement on behalf of the Board.”

“The board unanimously approved the resignation, and we want to assure the school community of our unwavering belief in our faculty and staff’s ability to educate and care for our students and families,” said Bauer. “We want to thank our community for its strength and loyalty to the district during this challenging time.”

The Board of Education plans to work with the school community on a path forward. Catherine (Katy) Barber-Graves, who has been the interim school superintendent since November, will continue to lead the district.
